Every song on this album is remarkable. Each song sparks an emotion culminating into an audio experience like no other. My all time favorite U2 album.

For me, their first two albums were magical. But the boys clearly burned with ambition, which always comes with compromise. I saw them early on in small venues, but this album was surely meant for stadiums. New Year's Day carried on with the sonics I loved, but the rest of the album went big with vocals way out front, making me more uncomfortable than entertained. Subsequent albums stayed strong for awhile, but eventually the bottom fell out with near total reliance on mushy vocals, placing them right where they're at today. Sigh...

I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. Was part of the beginning of MTV. Saw a video from an unknown band called U2. It was ok. It was catchy. But it didn’t blow me away. Then they released their video for New Years Day off of WAR. Now THAT caught my attention. As well as many classmates. We loved the Clash, the Alarm, now we had U2. Three bands that stood on their own. Loved WAR. Then the Unforgettable Fire came out. Very disappointing for me. With the exception of a few songs, the album was indeed…Forgettable. Then along came the Joshua Tree. And since then… not my thing. But this album will hold a special place.

This is one of my personal favorite U2 albums. This album has a great flow, track after track. Also, this album has great vocals, great drum solos, and great guitar solos as well. Finally, the instruments wrap around the vocals like no other, and intertwine perfectly. Definitely looking forward to the next limited play album, and extended play album from U2.
