Hands down, The Catherine Wheel is the best David Byrne solo album ever. To date, he hasn't come close to matching this album with any of his other solo efforts.

A bit of a simplification, not entirely accurate, but that's how I always viewed this album. Considering "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" virtually invented more musical forms than you can count, was oblique and avant garde (only Laurie Anderson's Mister Heartbreak was a more challenging/rewarding experience for me in those days), I think that's great praise.

Top to bottom (and that's quite a ways). Really ahead of its time...1981 for christ's sake!

As good as any T-Heads album, with some amazing instrumentals.
