This is a superb album

It is a more-than-worthy successor to her breakthrough Little Voice album. Brilliant music, lyrics and performances.
Bareilles says she experienced a period of writer’s block after the previous album, but clearly she beat it because the songs here are not just thrown together to meet a production deadline. They range from the incredibly catchy Gonna Get Over You and Uncharted, to heartbreakers (Hold My Heart, etc), to what may be the most breathtaking love song ever written (The Light). Plus a new genre: “Get Lost, Jerk,” with King of Anything, Say You’re Sorry...
Kaleidoscope Heart cements “Sara Bareilles style” as intricate melodies matched with remarkably insightful topics — with lyrics that avoid cliche, and instead have a juggling-behind-your back caliber turns of phrases. All performed to the nth degree by Sara with her perfect sense of expressing emotion in words + music.
In retrospect, this album foretells that Sara’s talent would lead her to success as a composer and lyricist for Broadway and television. Brilliant.
