'Deep' is right up there with the top albums ever. I'm talking top 500 of all time. I identify the era with Kate Bush's 'Sensual World', The Cure's 'Disintegration'. I acknowledge I'm comparing 'Deep' to some classsics but I took to this album the moment I heard it in it's entirety and have been listening to it on a semi-regular basis for 30 years. Dan Higgins declares Peter Murphy's 'Deep' a classic.

I bought this cd while stationed in Germany 1990. I must have listened to it a thousand times. Excellent album. Driving around Germany I saw "Bauhaus" signs in different areas. I thought, "hey maybe Peter Murphy lives there." Was I ever wrong.

This is some beautiful music people. Done by a man who's voice is so distinct, rare, and "takes u there" with the song . It's not as hard as Bauhaus (but if u were exp that, you're foolish ) ;
Tones on Tail, & Love & Rockets didn't either - it's what separates the groups & the 4 men apart from other musicians .

A lot of people say Peter Murphy's music is dark and depressing, and it may be odd to say this, but it actually makes me really happy when I listen to him. You really can never get sick of this album, unlike most popular music today. This album is truly great.

Peter Murphy's strongest solo album, DEEP has easily been one of my favorite albums since I first heard it in the summer of 1990. Although I love Bauhaus, I have always felt that Murphy was at his best pursuing his own solo efforts (just as the members of Love and Rockets were best served working outside of the Bauhaus group). In DEEP, Murphy's spiritual and intellectual interests are well explored; the spiritual aspect is especially strong, and moving even to an atheist like myself. My favorite tracks are "Cuts You Up", "A Strange Kind of Love", "Shy" and "Crystal Wrists," though the most beautiful piece is probably "Marlene Dietrich's Favourite Poem".
YES! FINALLY!
